My First Mustard Seed Piece

Been working on Christmas ornaments like you would just not believe.
Our town square Christmas Open House is this weekend.  It's another first for me and I'm so excited!  Tomorrow, I'll have some gorgeous trees to show you.  But that can wait :)

THE Cabinet Curtain Tutorial

Good Sunday Morning friends and relations!!  I had an email asking about THE cabinet that almost made me cry.  You can click it if you missed it.  Anyway, I made a curtain to go on the inside of the cabinet doors.  I previously replaced the glass in another dinette hutch with chicken wire and thought it would look great in the cabinet too. I originally planned on adding chicken wire, but left it out as a time issue.
For now, I'm just going to show you the curtain though... Chicken wire can come later.  -Truth be told, it's cold and early and I don't want to go dig all the supplies out of the basement before sufficient coffee.  But I will shortly, because y'all are worth it :)

NOW, listen closely.  This is not difficult!  You can do this... I'm talking to you BFT :)
If you don't own a sewing machine, you probably know someone who does.  Borrow it, try it, don't be afraid of it.  You got this.

Practically Free Fall Table Pretties

When I was little I spent alot of time with my Great-Grandmothers.  Each had their own unique phrases and vocabulary that now make me smile when I think of them.
If I left my toys in the floor, my
Grandma Marietta would say, "Don't forget to pick up your pretties."  My toys have changed a little over the years and now it's my job to leave my "pretties" around for all to see.

Last weekend I was fortunate enough to attend a local fundraiser dinner.
The dinner was supposed to be held in the middle of an orchard, next to a pond on a perfect southern October night.  The weather decided otherwise.
No matter.  The hosting family moved the dinner to a close by venue and all
went off without a hitch.

Hallowthankmas Begins

Well, I didn't wake up with the intention of working on Christmas before Halloween, but it just happened.  I found out this week that our town square open house will be the weekend before Thanksgiving.  I was determined that I wouldn't display Christmas before Thanksgiving, but I'm afraid I'll just have to give in on this one.
This morning I drove to the shop to pick up the small table I was working on yesterday.  On the way I stopped at Wal-Mart for milk and eggs.  One thing led to another and before I knew it, I had a few odds and ends for projects I've been meaning to play around with.

My New Favorite Stencils

I found a great dresser this weekend.  The drawers needed a little more love than I first realized, but otherwise it was in good shape.  I like the dark finish and thought it would be fun to just do the drawers.  As usual I jumped in before I took a picture.

Recycling the Needlepoint

Remember the chair as it started?  I couldn't bare to just throw the needlepoint away.  It was probably close to 100 years old.  It was dirty and a little dry rotted around the edge, but the center was okay.
